The LX705 is the first model in Roland’s world-famous and award-winning line of LX Upright Digital Pianos. It boasts a professionally rated tone engine + action combo in a stellar, space considerate upright piano cabinet, at an impressive price point. For those looking for an excellent blend of performance, aesthetics, and value, the LX705 is a ‘must-try’.
As Roland’s top line of home digital upright pianos, the LX series is an absolutely critical one for Roland as it essentially showcases what they’re capable of. For anyone who knows a little bit about Roland and this series of instruments, what they’re capable of is a whole lot!
The LX Series has many of the same core features as Roland’s GP pianos (Grand Pianos) such as: PureAcoustic Piano Modeling Tone Engine, Limitless Polyphony as well as the coveted PHA-50 action to give all pianist both an inspiring and expressive playing experience.
The LX705 specifically, features the smallest cabinet / foot-print in this series, yet still retains the wonderful aesthetic of an acoustic upright piano. When not playing the piano, its high-end stereo system onboard can stream music wirelessly from any smart device through its easy-to-use Bluetooth connection. The LX705 has a 2-way 4-speaker system.
For those looking towards a digital piano instead of acoustic, but still want the ‘look of a real piano’, the LX705 is certainly one to investigate.
The Roland LX705 is equipped with the company’s widely known PHA-50 action, which you can also find across many of Roland’s professional piano offerings, and is not only wonderfully sensitive and pleasant to play, but is also very durable.
The PHA-50 is made out of a combination of plastic and wood and also has textured key tops giving it a very authentic feel. It also has graded hammer weights and triple sensors, to both be very responsive and put out accurate MIDI information for those planning on connecting their LX705 to their computers
The LX705 from Roland features a really high-quality speaker and amp combo consisting of four 2-way speakers. These speakers are strategically balanced and positioned on the piano to recreate the sonic experience of an acoustic instrument and produce a total of 60W of output power.
Behind this amazing audio system is Roland’s PureAcoustic Piano modeling tone engine which is the best one Roland makes. This tone engine is fully modelled with no sound samples at all, giving the musician complete control. Roland also allows the musician to edit multiple aspects of the piano tone to their preferences, for a fully personalized sound.
It’s also important to mention that the LX705 has Limitless Polyphony on the piano sounds which is super uncommon. This allows for greater expression and nuance and a truly remarkable level of clarity. The limitless polyphony is available on both the American and European piano sounds in the LX705.
Apart from the piano tones, there are over 300 high-quality instrument sounds built right into the LX705 including many excellent electric piano, organ and string patches etc. too
The LX705 has all the connectors you’ll need for a home digital piano, and even if you plan on using it in an institution, like a church or musical school, you have everything you need.
Bluetooth MIDI allows for wireless connectivity to a tablet or smartphone for apps, and Bluetooth Audio means you can cast music directly to the LX705, taking advantage of its superb speaker system.
Add in dual headphone jacks outfitted with the Acoustic Headphone Projection Technology feature for improved fidelity, DC in jack, stereo mini line in, twin ¼: outs, as well as USB type A and B, and you’ve got quite the list.
Apart from featuring the best that Roland has to offer in the major categories of digital piano design, the most unique feature on this piano in its price range is the cabinet. In all four of its available finishes, the LX705 beautifully resembles an acoustic upright piano, from its case to its front legs, to its music rest. Roland even thought to give the key cover a ‘partial rest position’ to be able to cover up the on-board button panel for an even more authentic look. If you choose to order the piano in the Ebony Polish finish, you’ll also enjoy the same level of cabinet finishing as in high-quality acoustic instruments – kudos to Roland on this!
The Roland LX705 digital piano is a genuinely unique offering to the piano market in its instrument category. If you’re looking for a top-notch digital piano, are space-conscious but “don’t want it to look like a digital” then the LX705 must be considered.
