While he began his North American tenure in the piano industry in New York, he eventually relocated to Toronto and founded Heintzman & Company in 1866. It did not take long for the company to be internationally recognized and revered for its fine instruments. In fact, their reputation was so strong that they began to be referred to as the “Steinway of the North”.
