Ashley is a woodwind and adapted music lesson teacher at Merriam School of Music, with experience teaching piano and woodwinds privately as well as experience teaching the fundamentals of music to toddlers and young children. She is a graduate of Humber College’s Bachelor of Music program in saxophone performance, and is also proficient on piano, flute and clarinet. Ashley also holds a Master’s of Music Therapy from Wilfrid Laurier University and is currently in the process of becoming an Accredited Music Therapist (MTA). While Ashley has mainly studied jazz, she has kept in touch with her classical roots, which started at age 5 – she currently has her Grade 9 Piano Certification from the Royal Conservatory of Music.
Ashley has been a member of the Denis Wick Canadian Wind Orchestra, the National Youth Band of Canada (alto and baritone saxophone) and has collaborated with many musicians in the Greater Toronto Area. She is also the leader of her own Toronto-based, 7-piece instrumental group called “Different Era”, for which she composes and plays with the band in the GTA.
