Jacob Wutzke is a Calgary-raised, Toronto-based drummer, composer and educator. Noted for his exceptional improvising, endless creativity, fresh compositions and listening skills, he has been making his way up the ranks in the music scene, playing with and studying from many of the musical luminaries in both cities. His open mind concerning music has lead him to become a versatile drummer that specializes in jazz and improvised music, Latin-American music, blues, funk, R&B, rock and country. Jacob has played in a wide range of venues and main stages including the TD Edmonton Jazz Festival, the JazzYYC Summer Festival and the Toronto Undergraduate Jazz Festival (TUJF).
He is a part of Humber College’s graduating class of 2019 for the Bachelor of Music program where he has played and studied with great Canadian musicians such as Kirk MacDonald, Mark Kelso, Larnell Lewis, Barry Romberg, Trevor Giancola, Geoff Young, and Chendy Leon to name a few. Aside from a busy student schedule, Jacob earns his living as a busy freelance musician, educator and recording artist in the Toronto area. He has a passion for delivering music that is always fresh and exciting, as well as teaching the next generation to do the same.
