Talisa has completed her Master of Music degree from University of Western Ontario, where she is on-leave from a Doctorate of Music degree. She also holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Toronto, and studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music and the Cleveland Institute of Music.
Talisa has seven years of piano teaching experience primarily in classical piano. She is familiar with RCM methods, but she also enjoys looking for music outside the syllabus to tailor repertoire to her students individual needs and wants. She also enjoys occasionally helping students play music they like outside of classical music, using pop charts, or by ear. She has prepared students for advanced RCM exams, but it is not her goal. Her philosophy for teaching is to nurture a deep love of music in each student and give them skills that they will be able to use for their entire lives.
Talisa performs in the South Ontario area frequently, as guest soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player. She has collaborated with orchestras such as the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra London, as well as artists and conductors such as Peter Oundjian, Valery Gergiev, Russell Braun and Nicola Benedetti.
