Hilary McLaughlin is an active piano teacher and performer. She has won awards for her performances in numerous festivals, competitions, and showcases. She has performed both as a soloist and chamber musician in Britain at the British Isles Music Festival where she had the opportunity to share contemporary Canadian music with an international audience.
Hilary received her ARCT in Performance with First Class Honours from the Royal Conservatory of Music and her Master’s of Piano Pedagogy and Performance from the University of Toronto Faculty of Music. She has spoken at several conferences on her research projects and has also been published by the CFMTA and the Clavier Companion magazine.
Hilary is an accomplished piano teacher. She has brought many students through Royal Conservatory exams and has had experience teaching both beginner and advanced levels. Her teaching focuses on the production of beautiful tone quality through physical technique. In addition, she trains her students to listen critically to their playing and to make musical decisions artistically and independently. Hilary has a passion for teaching and endeavors to inspire her students with an appreciation for music, giving them skills with which to enjoy and explore the many facets of the musical world.
