We’ve all done it. You’re at a friends house, or maybe a local pub, and someone hands you a microphone for a karaoke night. And even with the ‘cover’ of loud music and friends screaming encouragements at you, it’s still a little intimidating.
Now just imagine standing on a stage, with total silence, and every eyeball in the room trained on you. Intimidating can quickly turn to outright fear, because let’s face it, singing is one of the most exposing and revealing musical activities out there.
But it’s also one of the most empowering, connective, and truly versatile skills anyone can have.
A great vocal teacher doesn’t just know how to teach the techniques of singing. They understand the entire package: the dramatic elements, the stage presence, the fear and intimidation almost entirely unique to learning to sing, and of course how to bring out the very best in every student.
Our vocal teachers come from pop, opera, classical, folk, and rock backgrounds. And they’re passionate about what they do, and how they inspire their students. They work with 8 year olds, and 80 year olds. And they’re waiting to meet you, and begin your journey of discovering your voice.
Because everyone has one! Come and find it with us at the Merriam School of Music.
