Claudiu Stoia attended York University Faculty of Fine Arts receiving four scholarships including the Imasco Performing Arts Award and from the University of Ottawa was presented the top award from the Gaston Heon Music Foundation.
Claudiu was also the recipient of three opera scholarships from The Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. He studied voice with Catherine Robbin, Jean MacPhail, Ingemar Korjus, and Helen Simmie and at the Aria International Music Academy where he performed in concerts and took masterclasses with Cynthia Hoffman, and George Shirley.
He attended the Institute for Voice Performance Pedagogy with Richard Miller at the Oberlin Conservatory studying systematic vocal technique. He has performed with the Tafelmusik Baroque Summer Institute, Virtuosi di Toronto Chamber Orchestra, as a soloist for Handel’s Messiah in Hamilton and Brantford, and with the University of Ottawa Baroque Orchestra.
Claudiu was a featured soloist on an international concert tour of Italy with the Palestrina Chamber Chorus. Through international auditions he won the countertenor role to record Cirque du Soleil’s “Dralion”.
His students consistently perform and place in music festivals. With his calm and soft-spoken approach, he is an exceptional teacher for a more advanced classical student.
