Kari Abraham is a passionate lyric soprano. She received her Master’s Degree in voice performance with a special focus on vocal pedagogy at the University of Toronto. Kari has attended various training programs such as Wendy Nielsen’s Vocal Technique Workshop, and COSI (Center for Opera Studies in Italy).
Kari previously performed the role of Offenbach’s Guilietta in The Tales of Hoffman with SOLT (Summer Opera Lyric Theatre), and appeared as Emma in Toronto Operetta Theater’s production of Guerrero’s Los Gavilanes. Throughout her training she has had the privilege of working with Liz Upchurch, Anne Larlee, Tom Diamond, Russel Braun, Warren Jones, Michael McMahon, Steven Philcox, David Eliakis, Matthew Edwards, and Alex Samaras. She currently studies with Wendy Nielsen. In 2017, Kari performed with The Symphony on the Bay as a finalist in their Emerging Young Artist Concert.
Kari is excited to rejoin the teaching faculty at Merriam Music, where she can impart her knowledge and passion for music. She is capable of teaching voice to any level, piano to INT1 and can help with preparation for entry to the Regional Arts program at Cawthra Park Secondary School as she is a graduate of that prestigious program.
