Skyfestival is an amazing summer celebration of music, done the Merriam way. We’ve gone ‘all-out’ for 2015, with major acts from Canada and the United States, including Molly Johnson, The Heavyweights, Joey Defrancesco, KC Roberts, Meagan DeLima, Clockwise, and more! For two full days, we’ll be running 3 stages at our Oakville campus, with live music acts, student displays, headliner concerts, sound-and-light displays, recording-studio sneak-peaks, and much more! Joey Defrancesco is considered by many to be the world’s most preeminent jazz organist, known for his driving bass lines, and absolutely brilliant virtuosic soloing. An incredibly gifted musician, Joey consistently wows audiences throughout the world, and is an in-demand clinician, session player, and performer year-round. Joey will be bringing his trio to Merriam’s SkyFest for two shows, both on July 12th 2015.

Juno Award-winning Jazz Vocalist

Molly Johnson is one of Canada’s most celebrated and decorated jazz artists, and Merriam is absolutely thrilled to be welcoming her to our stage. She is a member of the Order of Canada, and as enjoyed artistic and commercial success both at home and abroad. She has entertained audiences at virtually every jazz festival in North America, as well as royalty and dignitaries at numerous events and ceremonies. Her sound is unmistakable, and her command of the jazz idiom is amongst the very best.

The Heavyweights Brass Band, anchored by Toronto’s finest young brass innovators, has been making headlines for several years. How to find us!

Merriam Music’s Oakville campus is a 3-storey, multi-use music facility. During SKYFESTIVAL, the parking lot will be closed to all vehicles. Free Parking will be available across the street for easy access. Outdoor washroom facilities, food, beverages, seating, and round-the-clock security will be on-site.

Why Skyfestival?

Merriam Music is a strong advocate for music education throughout North America, and we have consistently supported efforts to make music affordable and accessible for those who desire to experience it. The SKYFESTIVAL will be a major source of funding for the Merriam Scholarship Fund, a financial assistance program which provides underprivileged and at-risk youth access to high-quality music lessons.

Although there is no charge to attend the SKYFESTIVAL, we will be accepting voluntary donations from festival goers, and ANY AND ALL proceeds from the festival will be used for scholarships.
