Matthew Wallace is a profession drum instructor/ musician in the Toronto and greater Toronto area. At a very early age he fell in love with drumming, but more specifically, heavy metal music. He dove head first into practice, sometimes devoting more than 8 hours a day to developing the speed and coordination required to play this style of music. Durning this time he played shows and toured with progressive metal band Ava Maria (see link for music.) Matt continued to play, perform and PRACTICE until he decided to attend Humber College where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Music. Durning his time in college he focused his attention on Jazz music and was fortunate enough to be offered a position with the schools best ensembles “A” and “B” band (these band are comprised of the top students in the school.)
Matt is a very dedicated and enthusiastic teacher. He has 10 years of experience and is comfortable teaching any level.
Matt has studied with some of the top musicians in Toronto including Mark Kelso, Brian Dickinson, Barry Romberg, Shirantha Beddage, Alex Dean, Mark Promane, Chris Lesso, Denzal Sinclaire and Kirk MacDonald. He has also Performed with Grammy award winning saxophonist Joe Lovano and Donny Mccaslin (see link for music.)
Matt is currently the manager of Rehearsal Factory in Etobicoke, this is a state of the art rehearsal space for bands to come and practice/ perform. (Students get a discount! Haha ; ) He can also be found performing throughout Toronto.
