Teach private clarinet/piano and group piano. Summer Camp Coordinator at Merriam’s. Michelle is a classically trained pianist and clarinetist and has been teaching students of all ages for the past 4 years. She began her piano studies at the age of 10. While attending Cawthra Park Secondary for clarinet with their music program, she worked diligently to complete her Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) exams on piano up to gr. 10 before taking her clarinet studies seriously at the University of Toronto.
In 2005, she won first place at the Merriam School of Music (MSM) Festival on clarinet. For the past few years, Michelle consistently won first place in each of her woodwind categories for clarinet at the Peel Music Festival. After winning first place once again with the PMF this year, she continued on to the Provincial level and was awarded first place with the Ontario Music Festival Association (OMFA) Provincial competition in Peterborough this past June.
Michelle is currently completing her fourth year of studies at the University of Toronto, working towards a Bachelor of Music, Music Education degree. She believes that it is her purpose to nurture the artistic spirit in each person and a lifelong love of music and learning through a wide variety of repertoire. Above all, with her sweet and cheerful personality, she strives to teach her students to have fun while learning music.
