Leyanna Slous is classically trained soprano from Mississauga Ontario. Leyanna holds a Master’s degree from Western University, in Voice Performance and Literature, studying under the tutelage of Jackie Short. Leyanna received her Bachelors (Honours), at the same institution under the tutelage of Bethany Hörst. Leyanna is an active performer and some of her recent operatic roles include, Susanna in “Le Nozze di Figaro” (UWOpera 2019) , Dorine in “Tartuffe”(NUOVA 2018), First Spirit in “Die Zauberflöte” (NUOVA 2018), Mabel in “Pirates of Penzance” (UWOpera 2018), First Girl, in John Beckwith’s “Night Blooming Cereus” (SOLT 2017) and Second Lady in the world premiere of Michael Rose’s “A Northern Lights Dream” (SOLT 2017). In addition to opera, Leyanna is also an active concert performer across Southwestern Ontario.
Leyanna has been the recipient of numerous awards and scholarships during her studies at Western, including; London Opera Guild Scholarship, Willena Evans Award in Music, Albert Whitlow Choral Award and the Hymn Society Music Award.
Leyanna’s teaching experience is a well-rounded one, as she has experience teaching private voice lessons, teaching music in a camp setting, as well as a choral setting. Leyanna is thrilled to be joining the Merriam Music team and is excited to nurture her students into flourishing artists.
