Teaching an instrument that requires intense precision, like the violin, also requires a precise educator. Unlike many other instruments, creating a tone on the violin requires precision not just in how the tone is sounded (drawing the bow across the string), but ALSO how the tone is pitched (where the hand sits on the fingerboard).

Because of this, it takes far longer to get a nice, satisfying tone on the violin than most other instruments – and in the wrong hands, many students will disengage with the effort and give up.  The right teacher is an extremely important factor in helping parents knowing how to support at home with practice, as well as keeping the students inspired and on track.

Merriam School of Music offers up experienced, engaging teachers for any student wishing to begin their violin studies.
