Heintzman is without question the most famous Canadian instrument builder of all-time. When Theodore August Heintzman established his piano company in Toronto in 1866, he was establishing a legacy that would stretch well over a century. The detailed cabinetry, impressive musicality, and high-quality craftsmanship earned Heintzman pianos the nickname of “Steinway of the North.” By the 1980s, Canadian manufacturing of Heintzman pianos had ceased.
