About This Piano
Yamaha’s U series instruments are amongst the most sought after pianos on the market for students, teachers, institutions, professionals, and hobbyists alike. They are highly-regarded for their durability, value, and impressive playability. While lesser known to the masses, Yamaha’s UX series is a premium version of their classic upright line.
Standing at 52” tall, Yamaha’s U3X is identical in height to the standard U3 model. However, it is packed with a multitude of premium upgrades. The X-bracing on the back of the UX pianos provides even greater strength and durability. The vents on the front panel provide an enhanced sonic experience as they allow for more sound out the front of the instrument. Furthermore, the curved bridge allows for extended bass strings, which gives the UX instruments far greater depth, power, and clarity from the lower register.
This 1981 Yamaha U3X has been very well preserved. Its polished ebony finish is in excellent condition and its tone and power is just as impressive and rewarding as ever. Like all Yamaha U models, this U3X was fully manufactured in Japan. The premium craftsmanship and musical performance of this instrument is evident upon the first glance and first played note.
At right around the $8000 price point, this premium Yamaha U3X is a fantastic value buy for an intermediate or advanced player on a tighter budget. Given its enhanced X-bracing design, this instrument is still quite young and has many more decades of music to offer its next owner.
