With the FP90 we’ve got their latest in Roland’s supernatural piano sounds. What that means is on the piano tones, you’ve got full modeling technology. This is going to give you a greater level of flexibility to modify and affect the piano tone and really customize it to your liking. It really gives you the feel and sound of an acoustic piano. Combine that with their amazing multi-channel speaker system and the convenient onboard 3-slider equalizer, and you begin to realize the versatility of this piano.

The front panel is very easy to use and see exactly what you are doing thanks to the help of a graphic LCD 132 x 32 dots display. The powerful and complex sound is enough to power to fill a small room.

There are over 300 voices in a range of additional sounds from electronic pianos, to organs, to orchestral sounds, drum kits, and even special effects like rain, thunder, and wind.

Audio Bluetooth technology allows you to stream music directly to the piano using your favorite providers such as Amazon, Google, or Spotify.

Midi Bluetooth technology allows you to connect wirelessly to your favorite music app such as GarageBand, Flowkey, Logic, etc, and use it for recording, learning, or just for having fun.

You can even hook a microphone directly into the piano and have your voice sound through the speakers while you play along. Great for vocalists or Karaoke lovers! You can even use the harmonizer effect to give your voice a harmony sound!

Action

The Roland FP90 uses the amazing PHA-50 action. This is one of their latest and greatest actions. It contains a wood/plastic core, it has escapement, ivory feel key surfaces on the top, and a triple sensor system. So it’s a very accurate action, both in terms of how sensitive it is, but also the physical feel of it is very, very nicely done and highly regarded.

The Sound Engine / Tone Generator

The Roland FP-90 uses their latest SuperNATURAL Piano Modeling technology. While this is used only on the piano sound,  it so impressive as it uses a combination of Roland’s sampling and modeling. Each of the 88 keys is sampled, (digitally recorded) at full length, with completely natural decay. Then Roland’s modeling technology is applied to make sure the transition between samples and velocities is smooth. So rather than having a quiet sample, medium sample, and loud sample, adding modeling means there are many transitional layers of volume available that are also controlled by the how musician plays as if you were playing a real piano.

Connectivity

The FP-90 offers a 1/4″ L/Mono, R audio output jacks so you can connect to an external sound system. There is a mini Stereo input jack to hook up a device and play it back through the speakers on the FP90.

There are 2 x ‘5 pin’ MIDI jacks that let you connect directly to another piano keyboard or midi device.
A convenient USB to host and USB to device ensure that you can use this portable digital piano in any environment with midi files and audio files.

There is also a Pedal (Damper/R, Sostenuto/C *1, Soft/L *1) jacks: TRS 1/4-inch phone type which allows you to connect the 3 pedal Roland pedal system directly to the piano.

Lastly, there is a 1/4″ stereo headphone jack and a stereo miniature headphone jack.

Accessories

While the FP-60 comes with the Roland DP-10 damper pedal, there is an optional KPD-90 pedalboard system with 3 pedals (you must have the Roland KSC-72 keyboard stand for this system) or the optional RPU-3 3 pedal system that does not require a stand.

Bluetooth

Roland gives you both Bluetooth midi and Bluetooth audio on the FP-90. This means you can stream music directly to the piano to have fun playing along with your favorite songs and you can also connect your Smartphone or device wirelessly to the piano to have fun with your favorite apps.
