Product Overview
The Roland KSF-40 is the dedicated furniture stand built for the FP-40. It comes in black or white to match the piano (KSF-40BK / KSF-40WH) and turns a portable board into a compact upright that actually looks like it belongs in a room instead of perched on an X-stand.
The Perfect Fit
The Perfect Fit
If the FP-40 is staying put most of the time, this is the stand that was designed around it. It bolts to the piano, sits at a normal seated playing height, and doesn’t add width to the footprint. The assembled look is clean: piano, stand, and optional pedals read as one piece of furniture.
This is not a universal keyboard stand. It is made for the FP-40. It will not fit a Yamaha, a Kawai, an FP-10, or the older FP-30 / FP-30X. Those instruments have their own dedicated stands. If you already own a KSC-70 from an FP-30X, that one does not transfer over.
Roland KPD-70 Compatibility
Roland KPD-70 Compatibility
The KSF-40 is what lets you add Roland’s KPD-70 three-pedal unit. Soft, sostenuto, and damper sit in the right place under the piano the way they would on an upright. You can still use a single DP-10 or the included DP-2 without the stand, but if you want a proper three-pedal setup on the FP-40, you need this stand. The KPD-70 is sold separately and is the same pedal board used with the FP-30X.
Assembly
Assembly
Same story as Roland’s other portable-piano furniture stands. A few panels, hardware in the box, and you can have it together in about 15 minutes without turning it into a weekend project.
Expert Advice
Expert Advice
The stand takes more abuse than people think. Cheap X-stands fold, rack, or dump a piano because someone saved forty dollars. The internet is full of those videos.
Tip 1: Over-estimate the load. A 31 lb piano is not 31 lb once you are playing at the ends of the keyboard and leaning in. Buy more stand than the spec sheet says you need.
Tip 2: Avoid stands that rely on plastic height locks and knobs. Those are usually the first parts to strip, and replacements are a pain. A dedicated wooden stand like this one has none of that.
