Product Overview
Casio has been leading the charge for decades in creating digital pianos that are both super affordable and packed with tons of great features. The CDP-S360 continues with this legacy, offering a combination of portability, versatility, and high-quality sounds at a very reasonable price. As a worthwhile successor to the popular CDP-S350 model, the CDP-S360 offers a newly refined and expanded version of its predecessor’s strengths. The CDP-S360 is a fantastic stage piano that features a redesigned and even more compact body, a completely upgraded sound engine and a ton of new tones and rhythms. The CDP-S360 would be a great choice for both beginner and experienced players alike. Casio has proven themselves again to be a notable force against the other digital piano makers in the market.
Action
The CDP-S360 features Casio’s Scaled Hammer Action II, which Casio has designed with the intent to mimic the feel of a grand piano as accurately as possible. This action provides both a natural and responsive feel and features simulated ebony and ivory textures to further add to the most realistic and comfortable feel possible. The weighting of the keys is slightly lighter than competing models, however this action still offers a very well-balanced feel and expressive dynamics when playing.
This action also features a dual-sensor system, which is likely sufficient for most players. More advanced players may prefer a triple-sensor system for a higher level of detail and MIDI responsiveness. That being said, players will certainly feel very comfortable playing both classical and contemporary styles on this action.
Sound Engine
At the heart of the CDP-S360 is a powerful sound engine meticulously developed by Casio that features over 700 impressive instrument tones as well as 200 accompaniment rhythms making it a super versatile instrument that can cover a lot of bases. It also features a 16-watt onboard speaker system that can deliver a well-balanced sound that makes it usable at reasonable volumes in a smaller room.
Casio’s default piano tone featured on the CDP-S360 will certainly hold its own against similar digital piano offerings from Yamaha and Roland. The piano tone is warm, detailed and dynamic, offering a very pleasant sound that is very usable and inspiring. The CDP-S360 also features a ton of other exciting instrument sounds including electric pianos, strings, brass and synths – all in a very easy to navigate interface to switch sounds on the fly. The CDP-S360 is equipped with 128 notes of polyphony, which should be more than sufficient for most intermediate and advanced players.
Connectivity
The Casio CDP-S360 comes equipped with all the necessary connectivity options most players are looking for. It features one stereo mini headphone jack, one stereo mini audio input, as well as one multi-use output terminal. Connectivity for different pedal options are also included – a basic damper pedal input, as well as an input for the SP34 3-pedal unit. Although the unit is not equipped with Bluetooth on board, it is available with the optional Wireless MIDI & Audio Adaptor (WU-BT10) which connects to one of the available USB ports and offers seamless integration with Casio’s Music Spaces app. You can also use the included USB port to convert the CDP-S360 to a MIDI controller on any Mac or PC without the need for any additional drivers or installation.
