About Kawai Pianos
Heintzman pianos have undeniably cemented themselves within Canada’s rich history of musical instrument manufacturing. Founded by Theodore August Heintzman in Toronto, Ontario in 1866, the Heintzman piano company established a strong reputation for producing finely-crafted upright and grand pianos that garnered international acclaim and recognition. In fact, Heintzman pianos even earned the nickname of “The Steinways of the North”.
While Heintzman eventually ceased producing pianos in Canada in the 1980s, the name was resurrected by investors that used some of the original factory equipment and scale designs to produce Heintzman pianos in Beijing, China. The traditions of beautiful cabinets, impeccable craftsmanship, and impressive musicality are certainly maintained in this new generation of Heintzman instruments.
